Due to the worsening security situation we have decided to close the Osteo Clinic until Wednesday 19 May. We will review how things are on Tuesday and decide then whether to open for the rest of the week or remain closed. If you have an appointment later in the week we will contact you to rearrange it, should we decide to close.

Rainbow House: a CCD project

On Sunday 16 May I am joining other parents and teachers from Harrow International School in Bangkok on a 85km cycle ride from Ayutayah to Harrow School in Bangkok. The aim is to raise one million Baht ( 21 000 GBP) for For Life and their local Thai charity CCD. These charities do amazing work supporting abandoned disabled children in Thailand. It is now possible to book, change or cancel your appointments with the Osteo Clinic through our website on our Online Booking page. The system is available for both Osteopathy and Migun Thermal Massage appointments.

If you are booking your first appointment you will be asked to register before a booking is accepted. If you have already had treatment then the system should recognise you from your name and will ask to send a password by SMS to your mobile phone. This will enable you to login and manage your appointments with us. The system is convenient and easy to use so we hope you find it a useful addition to our services.

Osteopathy Appointments July 31 to August 16

There will be no Osteopathy appointments from July 31 to August 16 2009. During this time Migun Therapy appointments will still be available and the Clinic will remain open, except on Wednesday 12 August which is a public holiday for the Queen’s birthday. Osteopathy appointments for August 17 onwards can be made by phoning the Clinic No 02-619-5911 as usual.

More about Migun Jade Massage

We have had the Migun massage bed at the Osteo Clinic for about three weeks now. We are gradually exploring the potential of this amazing machine. There are seven programmes to choose from:

General massage- whole spine massage and finger pressure
Upper Body Massage- massage and finger pressure concentrating on thoracic spine and neck
Lower Back Massage- massage and finger pressure concentrating on lumbar spine and pelvis
Finger Pressure- More sustained acupressure like treatment for whole spine
Massage- Massage only with no sustained pressure
Abdominal Massage- massage for abdominal muscles lying face down on the bed
Manual- Sustained finger pressure at any point on whole back

The Migun bed also has a lower limb unit that massages the calves (or shins when using P6 for the abdomen). The lower unit also works to subtly change the body’s position to increase or decrease the pressure provided by the upper body treatment heads. Though some programmes concentrate on one part of the back the treatment bed will still work the rest of the spine but with less pressure. This is achieved by clever sequencing with the lower limb unit. On programme 2 the lower unit can also be used to do a relaxing foot massage

As well as the built in Jade heads the bed comes with two external units that plug in to the bed. These units also have Jade heads heated by far infrared filaments. They are designed to provide heat to other areas during Migun therapy
The large unit is often placed on the abdomen chest or thighs.

The small unit is convenient to use on the neck shoulder or head. The temperature of the built in jade heads can be set between 50° and 70°, those in the external units between 40° and 70°.

Migun recommend a maximum session of one hour. The whole spine programmes last between 30 and 40 minutes. The upper spine, lower spine, foot, spinal massage only and abdominal programmes are shorter. A one hour session can consist of one long programme and two short ones or two or three short programmes.
