How does Migun Work?

One simply lies down on the Migun bed and lets the heated jade massage heads press underneath the entire length of of the body. Treatments can last between 15 to 40 minutes and cover a wide range of goals- from pure relaxation and meditation, to intense therapeutic relief.

What should I wear?

You remain fully clothed (except for your belt and shoes), so loose comfortable clothing is best.

Will there be any discomfort?

It is normal to experience mild soreness after a treatment, especially if you are new to body work. This will dissipate in a short time, with repeated use. At anytime, you may add towels for cushion until your body gets use to the movement and pressure.

How often can I do Migun?

Migun massage can be experienced several times in one day (maximum-3 times per day). We recommend a maximum of one hour for a session, and a minimum of 4 hours between sessions.

Why is Migun so intense on the pelvis and coccyx [tailbone area]?

Like other highly developed fitness techniques, such as Pilates, Migun focuses on the core of the body. It is very common to feel intense pressure and even soreness in the lower back during and following the first few sessions of Migun. The tailbone may feel tender, inflamed or even bruised, this is a healing reaction. The Migun massage bed aggressively works the lower back to soften connective tissue and detoxify this crucial area for maximum flexibility and health of the entire spine. Migun’s jade massage heads work the connective tissue until the calcified material is broken down and flushed out of the body. Depending on one’s physical condition, this process may take up to two weeks of regular Migun treatments.

What should I do after the massage?

Because Migun is such a detoxifying treatment, we encourage you to drink plenty of water to ensure that all the toxins released during your treatment will be flushed from the body.

What is the temperature range of the Migun bed?

104-140°Fahrenheit [40-60°Celsius].

Is Migun safe?

Yes, Migun is safe and has been thoroughly researched and perfected at universities in Korea, China and most recently at the University of California Irvine Medical School. The Migun thermal massage system is approved by the FDA as a Class II Medical Instrument under the 510K regulations and can be used without a prescription. This also means that the equipment can be used with or without medical supervision and is safe for home use.

Are there any contraindications?

Women who are pregnant and those using a pacemaker are advised not to do Migun. Also, people with severe osteoporosis, or steel rods/pins should consult with a physician to determine if Migun is appropriate.

What is far infrared light?

Far infrared light is a beneficial part of the sun’s spectrum that is invisible to the human eye and is felt as heat. ⇑ Back to top ⇑

Why is jade used in Migun equipment?

Jade contains vital elements for the human body, such as calcium and magnesium, and is the best natural conductor of infrared heat.

How is Migun appropriate for different body types?

Many different body sizes are able to do Migun because the critical distance is the positioning of the heads on either side of the spine. This is along the main bladder meridian and is independent of height. There is one lower body extension for people 6′4″ or taller so that the lower rollers reach the ankles. Simply unzip the lower body unit, reach under the mesh cover and manually lift the rollers to extend.

Can the intensity be varied?

The pressure is proportional to your body weight but can be altered with added cushion between the table and the body. We encourage everyone to begin with a few layers of towels [extra under the lower back] until your body gets used to the new movement and pressure.

Is it beneficial to do Migun only once in a while?

Certainly, you will receive benefit with a single session but the long-term benefits come with consistent use.

What are the external units for?

The Migun massage systems include 2 external jade heating projectors. These units do not massage but emit constant far infrared heat. The jade caps will get VERY HOT throughout the treatment, so be sure to place a towel between the projector and the body.

Where should I place the large external projector?

On an injury or other area of concern. We usually recommend the large unit on the stomach because localized heat helps the digestive system. It is also useful on the chest, particularly to help loosen congestion. When doing program 6 [abdominal massage], we recommend the large projector on the lower back or hamstrings.

Where should I place the small external projector?

On an injury or other area of concern. For a more intensive neck massage, you can place the unit under the neck. Be sure to place it close to the shoulders to avoid slippage when the rollers come underneath.

Can Migun concentrate on one specific area?

Yes, the manual mode in P6 will allow you to control the movement of the rollers on a specific area. However, it is best to work the whole body continuously. For example, though P2 focuses more intensively on the upper back & neck, it also works the entire length of the spine for two reasons:

1. In general, everything in the body is connected and a problem in one part of the back may be a result of tension in another area of the spine.

2. If a particular area is worked too long or hard, the body will resist such effort > therefore Migun will quite intensively work an area and then move away to allow for recovery. Basically, it is all quite sophisticated, scientific sequencing and it works.

Is it possible to turn off either the upper unit or the lower unit?

The table has an upper body unit and a lower body unit. Either can be paused to avoid a problem area, but remember that Migun is most effective as a full-body massage.

How do I use the foot massage option?

During Program 2, bend knees so feet are flat, wait until treatment heads are underneath middle of feet, press pause lower – rollers will move along length of feet for 1 minute and then resume leg massage.

How do I position myself for the abdominal massage?

Before lying down, press the mode button until it gets to P6 and then wait 10 seconds or so until the jade treatment heads move down, then lie down with head all the way at the top of the table. A towel under the legs is recommended to avoid too much pressure on the shins.

Can Migun help ease the symptoms of osteo arthritis?

Yes symptoms such as pain and stiffness can be improved with regular Migan sessions. Results depend on the duration and severity of the osteoarthritis. Severe joint damage cannot be reversed but Migun can help with pain relief and improve mobility.

If Migun lowers blood pressure, blood sugar levels and cholesterol, do

these conditions return once its use is stopped?

This is the case as with exercise, if one stops exercising one loses fitness. You need to keep the beneficial stimulation going to maintain the effects. It’s not a cure but a management tool to improve well-being. The longer you use it, the more lasting the effects.

How long does one have to use Migun before reults are experienced?

The results are almost immediate but become more consistant at 4 months (Blood Pressure) and 6 months (Blood Glucose) as shown in the studies.
